The main trout season finished on the 2nd of May 2010 and will reopen on the first weekend in August.
Some waters are open all year such as Great Lake, Meadowbank and Craigbourne Dam.
These waters offer the opportunity to trout fish throughout the winter period however they
do not fish as well as the Highland waters during the main season August to April so start planning for next season now.
The main feature of fishing Tasmania during winter is to go saltwater fly and lure fishing for a variety of species from tuna to bream.
Some amazing days are had here during May and June.
We are currently targeting big bream at Southport and other estuaries.
We also landed a decent blue fin tuna recently at around 20lbs and lost another to the seals.
However during July you should stick to tying flies as the fishing drops off then.
Time to get back to the water now - see you all soon.
Good luck with fishes. |
