October trout fishing Tasmania

October has arrived and so have mayfly hatches at 4 Springs and the Macquarie River in the Midlands.

Stonefly are also in good numbers on Arthurs and Woods Lake with trout surface feeding on them during any calm periods.

Arthurs water level is at .18m from full - this is the highest recorded level to my knowledge and is sure to provide us with some sensational midge hatches if the number of stonefly available are any indication.

The sea  runners are on hold for a bit with a lot of floodwater from very heavy rain last week.
This will slow and action for another week on the Derwent and other Southern rivers.

Time to get back to the trout fishing.
